    Jamie Oliver's Doghouse

Jamie Oliver is at it again and he’s opened up his latest concept “Jamie Oliver’s Doghouse” at the bottom of Shaftesbury Avenue by Piccadilly Circus. The Doghouse which opened a couple of days ago is part of the larger Diner that Oliver has opened on the same site with Arthur Potts Dawson. It’s apparently going to take a very sustainable approach to the entire restaurant with no left over food being wasted and thrown away, and plenty of locally sourced ingredients. Technically the place is being described as a pop-up, but given the three years its expected to last I think that might be stretching the definition a little bit. (more…)

    Homeslice London

Homeslice has joined the ever growing list of street food traders who have made the move to a bricks and mortar restaurant. They’ve moved inside and opened up their very own pizza joint in Neals Yard, just off Monmouth Street. They were the first people in London to make a wood fired pizza oven mobile and they were a great addition to London’s street food scene, so it’s good to see while they’re no longer to be found serving up slices in London’s markets you can still get their delicious pizza just a stones throw from Covent Garden. Pizza Pilgrims

In the spirit of “better late than never” I’m finally getting round to blogging about the Real Street Food Festival that ran on the Southbank a couple of weeks ago. I made two visits over the four day run and had some wonderful food including from a couple of new traders so I didn’t want to let this post slip past. (more…)

    Baklava, inspired by Macedonia

    Baklava

Earlier this month I was lucky enough to travel to Macedonia for a week to observe their local elections. And while I wasn’t there on holiday I did get to explore their culture and especially the food. I spent most of my time in a city called Gostivar, close to the Albanian border in the West which I was told is really well known for its food (as well as their Obama Cafe).

Street Feast goes to Paris (Part 1)

    A grey day in Paris

Bonjour! So earlier this month as part of my 2013 goal to travel more I headed to France for my first ever visit to Paris. Taking advantage of a Eurostar sale and a cheap Airbnb apartment I packed a bag and headed over for a weekend of sight seeing and over indulgence. While the city was unfortunately cold, wet and grey for most of my visit I still had a wonderful time, it’s such a lovely city to explore. I kind of wish instead of planning my visit in as much detail as I did I’d just taken the city as it came and just explored – next time!
