    Street Feast

    This week I finally made it to Street Feast, the London night market that this blog shares a name with. Given our shared name I’d wanted to visit much earlier, but never managed to make it to their previous two locations in Shoreditch and Kentish Town. But this Friday, despite the threat of rain I finally made it to their new home in Dalston.

    Spit & Roast

    A few weeks ago I decided the one thing my kitchen was missing was a deep fat fryer, and while my flat mate protested a decent set of pans might have been a better way to spend some money, all I was thinking of was being able to make things like scotch eggs, doughnuts and especially some fried chicken. While my experimenting got underway (and i’ll post some recipes in the next few weeks) I heard of a new street food trader that was going to be selling their own fried chicken in Hackney. So on Saturday, their first day of trading, I headed down to the Hackney Homemade market to check out Spit & Roast and their deep fried wares. (more…)

    Hot Dogs at #blogeatblog

    What do you get when you combine London’s best hot dogs with a group of food obsessed bloggers?  I went down to the second heat of Big Apple Hot Dogs’ #blogEATblog competition last weekend to find out!  Starting with one of Abiye’s excellent hot dogs as their base each of the four entrants was tasked with coming up with their own original topping and then seeing what the hot-dog eating public of Brick Lane thought.  And even though it was a miserable day, with pretty heavy rain it didn’t stop people coming down to check out the competition.
